Dupilumab is approved for uncontrolled moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis; cyclosporine is approved for severe atopic dermatitis. Efficacy/effectiveness were compared indirectly using regression models. Results of this study suggest that dupilumab has greater relative efficacy than cyclosporine in the treatment of moderate-to-severe AD in adult patients, as captured using a well-validated outcome measure, improvement in EASI score.

Dupilumab is approved for uncontrolled moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD); cyclosporine is approved for severe AD for ≤ 1 year. The efficacy/effectiveness of these treatments was compared indirectly. Regression models used pooled patient-level data to estimate response (Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) EASI-50/EASI-75 at weeks 12–16 and 24–30) to dupilumab 300 mg every 2 week ...

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic relapsing inflammatory skin disease affecting 15–20% children and 2–10% adults worldwide. Topical treatments include corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, despite frequently observed adverse events such as skin atrophy, itching and burning sensations. Good alternatives that can prolong disease relief in between flare-ups are therefore needed. We conducted a ...

The associations between atopic dermatitis (AD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are debated. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between AD and coronary artery disease or ischaemic stroke in a nationwide, register-based, case-control study (104,832 AD cases, 1,022,435 controls) based on linkage of Swedish national register data between 1968 and 2016. Patients were classified ...

Psoriasis can involve the skin, joints, nails and cardiovascular system and result in a significant impairment in quality of life. Studies have shown a lower response rate to systemic anti-psoriatic therapies in smokers, and smoking is a trigger factor for psoriasis. The aim of this study was therefore to analyse the response to systemic therapies for psoriasis, with a focus on smoking. Prospectiv ...

Data on the host and skin cancer risk factors were collected through questionnaires ...

Lentigo maligna (LM) is treated to prevent progression to lentigo maligna melanoma (LMM). Surgery is the gold standard but an alternative treatment is off-label topical imiquimod. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of 5% topical imiquimod treatment for lentigo maligna. In the period 2007–2017 57 patients with lentigo maligna were treated with off-label topical imiquimod once ...

Mycobacterium chelonae is a rapidly growing non-tuberculous mycobacterium, which causes infections of the human skin and soft tissue. Despite an increasing incidence of such infections, patients are often misdiagnosed. We report here 5 patients with cutaneous and/or soft tissue infection due to M. chelonae who were diagnosed and treated at our centre. Two of the 5 patients were on immunosuppressiv ...

Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI) is a group of rare non-syndrome diseases that affect cornification. PNPLA1 is one of the 12 related genes identified so far. Mutation screening of this gene has resulted in the identification of 13 individuals, from 10 families, who carried 7 different PNPLA1 mutations. These mutations included 2 missense, 2 frameshift and 3 nonsense, 3 of them be ...
